Lepidoptera originally started with a Wormy Chestnut board that was salvaged from a barn in the southeastern United States.

Every piece starts as a relief print taken directly from the wood. After salvaging the wood, it is taken through a multi-step process to make the growth rings more prominent, allowing a highly detailed print to be pulled. The finished piece is used to create a silkscreen print utilizing traditional methods.
